Ödes Schloss, Rechnitz, Medieval castle ruin in Rechnitz, Austria.

The structural remains include sections of a main building with surrounding moat and rampart, positioned above the recreational swimming lake of Rechnitz.

During the Güssinger Feud in 1289, Count Iwan surrendered the castle to Duke Albrecht I of Austria after a prolonged siege and partial destruction.

The castle walls stand as an architectural record of medieval defensive construction methods, representing regional building traditions from the 13th century.

Visitors can reach the castle ruins through a marked footpath that leads from the town center of Rechnitz through a dense forest area.

The district administration ordered the demolition of parts of the castle in the 19th century to prevent thieves from using it as a hideout.
