Dambergwarte, Observation tower on Damberg mountain in St. Ulrich bei Steyr, Austria.
Dambergwarte is a 36-meter steel observation tower located on Damberg mountain in St. Ulrich bei Steyr. It stands at an elevation of 811 meters and provides views across the Pre-Alps and Alpine foothills of Upper Austria.
The Alpine Club built the original 21-meter wooden tower in 1869 and replaced it as mountain tourism grew. The current steel structure was erected in the 1970s to withstand the weather and accommodate more visitors safely.
The tower serves as a gathering place where hikers and nature lovers meet before exploring the surrounding trails. People naturally congregate here, making it a social hub for those enjoying the mountain landscape.
The tower is easiest to reach on foot from the center of St. Ulrich, where paths are clearly marked. The best time to visit is between spring and autumn when weather conditions are stable and the trails are dry.
The structure underwent major renovation work in 2014 that reinforced its steel framework for decades of safe use. This modernization added improved safety systems and better internal access for visitors climbing to the top.
