Schloss Mittertrixen, Protected castle in Völkermarkt, Austria
The castle features a two-story quadrangular structure with arcade courtyards, incorporating late Gothic elements and late Baroque architectural design elements.
The structure, dating from 1769 to 1770, replaced an earlier medieval fortress and was commissioned by Count Leopold Christallnigg as his residence.
The castle contains preserved 16th-century coffered ceilings and remnants of late Baroque stucco work in its upper floor chambers.
The castle maintains private ownership status, requiring visitors to respect boundaries and observe the property from designated public areas only.
South of the main building extends a large garden enclosed by natural stone walls, while ruins of the original castle remain visible on a forested hill.
