Kalvarienberg, Mountain summit in Austria.

Kalvarienberg is a 606 m summit west of Bad Ischl's centre, rising about 100 m above the Traun valley floor as a foothill of the Katrin. Its wooded top is a local recreation area, reached by the Ischl Stations of the Cross leading up to the Baroque Kalvarienbergkirche. The north flank is Jurassic Bunter Kalk around 150 million years old; at its foot rises the Maria-Louisen-Quelle, a brine spring about 24 % salt.

The Kalvarienberg takes its name from the Baroque Kalvarienbergkirche on its town-facing slope, reached by the Ischler Kreuzweg. From the 1820s, as Bad Ischl's summer resort era began, small pleasure grounds were laid out here, including Dr. Brandt's Belvedere (1828) and Eleonorens Einsamkeit, a favourite spot of Countess Eleonore von Fuchs. The Elisabeth-Waldweg on the north slope was created in 1899 in memory of the late Empress Elisabeth.

The name refers to the Kalvarienbergkirche, a Baroque church on the town side of the hill, reached by the Ischl Kreuzweg, a Stations of the Cross path climbing to it. The hill was already used for recreation in the 1820s summer resort period: Dr. Brandt laid out a small Belvedere here in 1828, and Countess Eleonore von Fuchs had a favourite spot called Eleonorens Einsamkeit.

The wooded summit rises about 100 m above the valley floor at Bad Ischl, reached on footpaths from the town centre; the Kreuzweg leads up to the Baroque Kalvarienbergkirche on the town side. The Elisabeth-Waldweg runs along the north slope, laid out in 1899 in memory of Empress Elisabeth. The Maria-Louisen-Quelle brine spring (about 24% salt) rises at the north foot, near the Falkensteiner quarry in the Steinbruch district.

The wooded summit rises about 100 m above the valley floor to 606 m, a forehill of the Katrin (1542 m). At its northern foot rises the Maria-Louisen-Quelle, a brine spring whose water is roughly 10,000 years old and about 24% salt; it was recently recaptured.
