Handalm

The Handalm peak rises to 1853 meters within the Koralpe region, featuring a small plateau with rock formations and extensive forest coverage.

Until 1959, the northern feeder line of the Deutschlandsberg forest railroad operated through this region, connecting local communities across the mountainous terrain.

The Wolfstein memorial in the northwest marks the location where residents eliminated a problematic wolf on March 5, 1914, during a period of local conflict.

Multiple hiking trails provide access to the summit, including the European long-distance path E6 and the Styrian circular hiking track system.

Since 2017, thirteen wind turbines at altitudes near 1800 meters generate electricity for 21,000 households with an annual output of 39 megawatts.
