Eibenberg

Eibenberg is a mountain summit near Ebensee that rises to approximately 1598 meters and displays varied landscapes throughout. The terrain shifts from steep southern slopes facing the Offenseetal to mixed forest regions, with a hunting lodge situated at higher elevations.

During the Middle Ages, nuns from Traunkirchen monastery managed the mountain area and harvested yew trees for commercial trade. This early monastic connection shaped how people used the land for centuries afterward.

The mountain peak features a surveying pole decorated with a cross, marking the highest point of this Upper Austrian Alpine elevation.

Start your hike from the Rindbach parking area near the shooting range, following marked paths that lead to the summit. The trek takes around three hours with steady climbing and regular views along the way.

From the peak, you can see two distinct lakes positioned on opposite sides: Traunsee to the northwest and Offensee to the southeast. A surveying pole topped with a cross marks the summit point and serves as a clear landmark for hikers.
