Falkenschlucht, Natural monument in Türnitz, Austria
Falkenschlucht is a narrow gorge near Türnitz that stretches through steep rock walls for about 600 meters. Water flows continuously through the gorge and the walls reach heights of around 100 meters in some sections.
The gorge was part of the Via Sacra, a pilgrimage route that stretched across generations through Austria. This network of paths connected Vienna with the shrine at Mariazell and shaped the region as an important spiritual passage.
The site attracts visitors seeking inner peace, and various spots are perceived by locals as places with special energy. People come here to connect with the natural space and experience what they describe as the power of the location.
Several hiking routes pass through the area with durations ranging from 2.5 to 10 hours depending on the chosen path. Parking is available at the Iron Gate location and near Türnitz to make it easier to reach different entry points.
A small cave called Innerebenegrotte sits near the entrance and has a water source year-round. Water drops about 5 meters down onto the cave floor, making this an unusual feature of the site.
