Pfarrkirche Kautzen, Parish church in Kautzen, Austria.
Pfarrkirche Kautzen is a three-nave hall church with a facade tower built between 1806 and 1807 featuring neo-baroque elements. The nave was expanded from a single-nave design to three naves in 1870.
The parish was first documented in 1341 and suffered a fire in 1805, after which reconstruction began. The expansion to the current three-nave layout followed roughly 65 years later.
The interior displays a painting by Franz Mayerhofer from 1825 depicting Saint James, surrounded by saint statues from the early 20th century that define the look of the nave today. These works of art shape the spiritual character of the worship space.
The church is normally open during daytime hours for visits outside of services. Accessibility should be confirmed in advance if you have specific mobility needs.
A bell from 1682 hangs in the tower as a rare survivor from the Baroque period. The organ was built by Franz Capek in 1906 and shows the craftsmanship of early instrument makers.
