Burg Hausenbach

The fortress stands on a granite rock formation with a two-story palace and a high defensive tower in the Romanesque architectural style.

The castle dates back to the 13th century, with first documented mention in 1237 when Weichard I von Doppel held ownership of the property.

The building features preserved black-painted friezes and distinctive scratch plaster decorations on its facade from a 1560 architectural transformation.

The castle remains in private ownership and access to the interior spaces is restricted from public visitation throughout the year.

From a distance, the castle resembles a church structure due to its high tower and attached palace with a steep roof configuration.
