Pfarrkirche Stössing

Pfarrkirche Stössing is a neo-Gothic church with a steep pyramid-roofed tower, pointed arch windows, and buttresses that emphasize its medieval core structure. The interior features a wooden beam ceiling installed in 1925 and carries the overall Gothic design language throughout its layout.

The church first appeared in written records in 1248 as a branch of Böheimkirchen parish, and gained independent parish status in 1783 during the Josephine reforms. This transition reflected broader administrative changes to how the church organized its local communities.

The stained glass windows from 1914 cast colored light across the interior and depict religious scenes for visitors to observe. The ornate carved pulpit with biblical scenes from the 18th century shows the artistic tradition that residents valued in their place of worship.

The site is easily accessible on foot and visitors can view the exterior freely at any time. For access to the interior, it is best to contact the local parish office ahead of your visit to confirm availability.

The south wall still shows remnants of an old cemetery boundary that once enclosed the burial ground beside the church. A rectangular late Gothic sacrament niche on the north wall reveals how medieval religious practices were built directly into the building's structure.
