Haus Beer is a four-story villa in Hietzing featuring clean architectural lines and open floor plans throughout its spaces. The building demonstrates the modernist design language that defined residential architecture in Austria during this creative period.

The villa was built between 1929 and 1931 by architects Josef Frank and Oskar Wlach for Julius Beer, a co-owner of a rubber sole factory. The house emerged during an era when Vienna was establishing itself as a leading center for modern architecture.

Julius and Margarete Beer, co-owner of the Berson rubber sole factory and his wife, had the house built as a setting for receptions and musical evenings. Between their stays in Vienna, the tenor Richard Tauber, Jan Kiepura with his secretary Marcel Prawy, and actress Marta Eggerth rented it. Frank designed coloured decorative wallpapers and upholstery for the interiors, pointing to the decorative modernism he later developed in Sweden.

The villa at Wenzgasse 12 in Hietzing has been open to the public since 8 March 2026, with guided tours and weekend entry by timed ticket. Visits follow a restoration agreed with the Federal Monuments Office, so rooms may be partly closed at times. The white rendered facade with its projecting left wing and round porthole window can be seen from the street.

Two famous opera tenors, Richard Tauber and Jan Kiepura, rented the villa during their performances in Vienna, linking it to the musical world. These prominent residents added to the artistic reputation of the house.
