Haus Beer

Haus Beer is a four-story villa in Hietzing featuring clean architectural lines and open floor plans throughout its spaces. The building demonstrates the modernist design language that defined residential architecture in Austria during this creative period.

The villa was built between 1929 and 1931 by architects Josef Frank and Oskar Wlach for Julius Beer, a co-owner of a rubber sole factory. The house emerged during an era when Vienna was establishing itself as a leading center for modern architecture.

The residence reflects the modern Austrian design sensibility and shows how creative figures lived in Vienna during the interwar period. The rooms convey a sense of the refined lifestyle of that era and how private spaces mattered for artists and performers.

Two famous opera tenors, Richard Tauber and Jan Kiepura, rented the villa during their performances in Vienna, linking it to the musical world. These prominent residents added to the artistic reputation of the house.
