Schloss Lehenhof, Scheibbs, Heritage villa in Scheibbs, Austria.
Schloss Lehenhof is a villa in Scheibbs with a horseshoe-shaped design comprising three wings arranged around a central courtyard. The building is topped with hipped roofs and faces toward the mountain landscape, with the estate spreading across an extensive property.
The villa was built between 1835 and 1840 by Count Almasy and initially served as a summer home for poet Albrecht von Wickenburg. A century later, furniture maker Thonet occupied the space from 1925 to 1939.
The residence served as a home for aristocratic families, and its rooms reflect how the wealthy lived during the 1800s. Visitors can still observe the layout and furnishings that reveal daily life in that era.
The estate is located at Hochbruck 6 in Scheibbs and is under historical preservation status, which affects how it is maintained and accessed. The entire property is protected as a monument, so visiting may have limitations depending on current use.
Physicist Albert von Ettingshausen acquired the property in 1912 and had the main facade redesigned in neoclassical style. Later, the Thonet furniture company created a music room within the estate featuring works by artist Josef Maria Auchentaller.
