Schloss Ginselberg, Castle in Scheibbs, Austria
Schloss Ginselberg is a castle in Scheibbs featuring a symmetrical two-story structure with a central risalit and side projections beneath a hipped roof. The building sits on a terrace above a tuff quarry and contains four event rooms spanning approximately 210 square meters.
The building originally opened in 1827 as a mirror factory and was transformed into a castle in 1863 through extensive renovations by Anton Graf von Schönfeld. This fundamental redesign marked a shift from industrial to aristocratic use.
The castle has served as an event venue for generations while maintaining its noble character through historical rooms like the dining room, salon, and billiard room. These spaces reflect how wealthy families once lived and entertained guests here.
The castle can be rented for various events and accommodates around 60 guests indoors. Additional tent arrangements can expand capacity to up to 250 people, making it flexible for different types of celebrations.
A remarkable resident of the castle was Heinrich Graf Schönfeldt, born here in 1884, who became one of the world's first tank drivers. He remained connected to the castle until 1963, embodying an unusual link between aristocratic life and modern warfare technology.
