Schloss Neubruck und ehemaliges Töpperwerk, Historic castle and industrial complex in Scheibbs, Austria
Schloss Neubruck is a castle complex with industrial buildings along the Erlauf River in Scheibbs, developed from an original hammer mill. The structure displays a four-wing layout with an integrated chapel, surrounded by an English garden and former factory buildings that still stand on the grounds.
Andreas Töpper founded an iron and rolled sheet metal factory here in 1820, which grew into the monarchy's largest metalworking operation. Later, Eduard Musil von Mollenbruck transformed the original manor house into a castle around 1890.
The site hosts regular cultural events organized by the Verein KULTURORT SCHLOSS NEUBRUCK, including concerts, theater performances, and puppet shows that bring the space to life throughout the year. Visitors experience how the complex serves as a gathering place where local tradition and contemporary arts coexist.
The castle now houses the Mostviertel Tourism office, where visitors can get information about regional attractions and cultural offerings. The grounds and building are most easily explored during the various events held throughout the year at the site.
The factory was once the monarchy's most modern metalworking facility and drew workers from across the region. Today this technical past and aristocratic architecture meet in an unusual way that few other sites achieve.
