Edlesberger Teich, Still water lake in Weinsberger Wald, Austria
Edlesberger Teich is a water body in the Waldviertel region surrounded by dense forest at approximately 876 meters elevation. The water covers roughly 14 hectares and has designated areas for swimming and fishing.
This water body began in the 18th century as a reservoir to help move timber through a network of connected waterways. It played an important role in supporting the local forestry business during that period.
Locals use this place for swimming and relaxation during warm months, with families and groups gathering along the shoreline. This daily activity shows how much the water means to people in the surrounding villages.
The water is accessible during warmer months, with swimming and fishing areas clearly set out. If you bring pets, note that dogs are not allowed in the water, so plan accordingly.
The Höllbach stream flows through the water and is managed by a sluice system on the southeast side near where the old Roßmühle mill once stood. This hidden technical system has controlled water levels since the industrial days and few visitors notice it today.
