Buzeyir Cave is a natural rock shelter in Lerik Rayon's mountainous area, located on a slope above a river valley. The hollow extends into the stone and offers protection, with space for camping and occupation.
The cave was inhabited by Neanderthals roughly 40000 years ago, who sought shelter in this location. Later, Bronze and Iron Age peoples also left their mark here.
The cave shows layers of human settlement across thousands of years, with evidence of different peoples living here one after another.
The cave is accessible by foot via a mountain path and requires some climbing and sure footing. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for varying light levels inside.
Inside the cave, water has created distinctive mineral formations through natural geological processes over millions of years. These structures show how ancient the shelter truly is.
