Aghdash District, Administrative district in central Azerbaijan
Aghdash District is an administrative area in central Azerbaijan characterized by flat plains and low mountain ridges in the north. Multiple rivers flow through the region, shaping the landscape and supporting agricultural activity.
This administrative territory was established in 1930 and remained part of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic until the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. This transition marked a significant shift in the region's governmental structure and independence.
The district maintains traditional silk-worm breeding practices while supporting two local newspapers, Agdash and Young Educators, which serve the community since 1932.
The region is well connected by the Baku-Qazakh highway and the Baku-Tbilisi railway. A network of post offices and local services makes navigation and communication convenient for visitors.
The district's geographical position along the historical Silk Road combines with the Turianchay River, Kur River, and Shirvan Canal to support agricultural development.
