Festina lente, Pedestrian bridge over Miljacka River in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Festina Lente is a pedestrian bridge spanning the Miljacka River with a distinctive loop in its middle section and glass railings. It connects the Mak Dizdar embankment to Radiceva Street and features covered sections with integrated benches and white LED lighting.
The bridge was built following a design competition won by three industrial design students from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. It was completed and inaugurated in 2012 as a significant public design project.
The name Festina Lente comes from Latin and means 'make haste slowly'. This concept is reflected in the design, which invites pedestrians to pause and notice their surroundings as they cross.
The bridge is easily accessible on foot from both riverbanks. The LED lighting makes crossing safe after dark, and the benches provide comfortable rest spots along the way.
The central loop creates an enclosed space above the water with two different seating areas. One space features grass coverage while the other is constructed from stone.
