Nemo 33, Indoor diving facility in Uccle, Belgium
Nemo 33 is an indoor diving center in Uccle, Belgium, housing a 34.5-meter deep pool filled with 2.5 million liters of naturally filtered spring water kept at 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). The structure offers multiple levels with platforms, caves, and viewing windows that simulate different diving depths.
The center opened in 2004 and held the record as the deepest indoor swimming pool in the world until 2014. Y-40 in Italy then took the title with an even greater depth.
The center brings together international visitors and locals who share a passion for exploring underwater environments and improving their skills. Divers practice free diving, scuba training, or specialized courses while others watch through viewing panels.
Divers must be at least 12 years old and present certification if they wish to dive in the deeper sections. All participants dive with a partner during scheduled morning sessions or evening sessions.
The building has several underwater windows at 10 meters (33 feet) depth that let spectators watch divers move through simulated cave systems. These windows create a connection between the divers and people outside the pool.
