Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, Gothic cathedral in Brussels, Belgium

The Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula features two towers reaching 64 meters high and extends 114 meters in length with 57 meters in width.

Lambert II, Count of Louvain, founded the cathedral in 1047, but the construction of the current Gothic structure continued through multiple phases until the 15th century.

The cathedral contains a Baroque wooden pulpit from 1699, original oak confessionals from the 17th century, and stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes.

The cathedral opens Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 18:00, Saturday from 7:30 to 15:30, and Sunday from 14:00 to 18:00, with free general admission.

The cathedral towers serve as nesting sites for peregrine falcons, which return each year and can be observed through dedicated monitoring programs.
