Brussels Park, Protected heritage site in Royal Quarter, Belgium
The Brussels Park spans 13.1 hectares of green space in central Brussels, featuring geometric pathways, ponds, and statues arranged in neoclassical style.
The park emerged between 1776 and 1783 on the former grounds of the Palace of Coudenberg, which served as a ducal hunting area until 1731.
Sixty sculptures inspired by Greco-Roman mythology decorate the park grounds, while the Royal Park Theatre from 1782 hosts performances throughout the year.
Multiple entrances connect to the park from nearby metro stations Parc and Trône, with the main access point facing the Belgian House of Parliament.
The construction project removed 1,200 existing trees and planted 3,000 new ones, marking the first major urban planning initiative in Brussels.
