Wenduine, Municipality section in De Haan, Belgium
Wenduine is a section of the municipality of De Haan, situated on the Belgian North Sea coast. It sits directly on the shore and is flanked by dune forests and open sandy beaches.
Wenduine grew from a small fishing village in the 13th century into a seaside resort by the 20th century. The Belle Époque villas scattered across the town are a direct reminder of that period of growth.
Every July, the Reuzenfeesten festival brings giant figures from Belgium and neighboring countries parading through the streets. The event draws locals and visitors together and gives the town a festive energy that lasts for days.
Wenduine is easy to explore on foot or by bicycle, with marked paths running along the coast and through the dune forests. Visiting outside the summer months means fewer people on the beach and quieter streets.
Wenduine is home to the only naturist beach on the Belgian coast, found just west of the town at the border with Bredene. Many visitors are unaware of it, even though it is easy to reach on foot from the town center.
