Lippensgoed-Bulskampveld

Lippensgoed-Bulskampveld is an expansive domain spanning hundreds of hectares with forests, heathland, and open meadows near Beernem. The terrain contains a mix of habitat types connected by waterways and natural vegetation patterns.

The name emerged around 1150 with Germanic roots referring to a field type, and the neo-Gothic castle was built in the late 1800s by a prominent count. This construction shaped the estate as it exists today.

The domain features an extensive herb garden with hundreds of plant species displayed in organized sections, showing visitors how plants serve practical and medicinal purposes. Walking through these beds reveals how local gardening traditions value both food and healing plants.

Walking and cycling trails crisscross the grounds with clear markings and directional signs throughout the property. Information and orientation materials are available at the visitor center, making it easy to plan your route.

The land forms part of the largest continuous forest region in West Flanders and contains protected natural habitats. A stream runs through the grounds creating wetland areas that support diverse wildlife.
