Aquatopia, Public aquarium at Koningin Astridplein, Antwerp, Belgium.
Aquatopia was a public facility with multiple tanks spread across different levels, displaying over 4,000 marine creatures from around 100 species in recreated natural settings. The spaces allowed visitors to explore various ocean environments, from coral reef zones to deeper water habitats.
The facility opened in October 2003 as a new attraction in Antwerp for marine enthusiasts. It closed in January 2017 after years of declining visitor numbers.
During its operation period, Aquatopia served as an educational center where visitors learned about marine conservation and aquatic ecosystems.
The facility was located directly opposite Antwerp Central Station, making it very easy to reach. Visiting was straightforward and various payment options were available.
The facility contained the largest shark tank in Belgium and maintained one million liters of water throughout its various display sections.
