De Roma, Arts centre in Borgerhout, Belgium
De Roma is an arts center housed in a 1920s-era building located in Borgerhout with a large performance hall seating approximately 2000 people. The interior showcases Art Deco details from the original construction period that were preserved during restoration work.
The building first opened in 1927 as a cinema and operated under that name until 1982. It later transformed into a multi-purpose venue that now hosts diverse artistic performances.
The space hosts concerts, theater productions, and film screenings that bring the community together. It serves as a cultural hub for artists and audiences across the region.
You can reach the venue easily by tram line 24 or bus line 30, both of which stop nearby. Free bicycle parking is available if you arrive by bike.
The renovation of this venue was made possible by hundreds of volunteers who worked together on the project. It demonstrates how a community can collectively bring a historic building back to life.
