Veltwijckpark

Veltwijckpark is a 9-hectare green space in Ekeren with flower gardens, grass fields, and a moat surrounding Hof van Veltwijck castle. The grounds feature a modern skate park decorated with graffiti art, a children's play area, and multiple walking routes that connect different sections.

The grounds housed Germinal Ekeren football stadium until 2009, when it was removed following neighborhood concerns. This transformation led to the current layout as a public park offering diverse recreational activities.

The park serves as a gathering place where locals enjoy walking and spending time in the gardens, particularly along the historic beech tree avenue leading to the castle. This tree-lined route has become part of the neighborhood's daily rhythm and is frequented by families and residents of all ages.

The grounds are easy to explore on foot, with walking paths that lead through all areas and connect different zones. It works well for all ages, with spaces for playing, skating, or simply resting under the mature trees.

An ancient beech tree avenue runs from the entrance gate to the castle, creating a natural corridor lined with mature trees through the English-style gardens. This centuries-old tree-lined passage is a striking feature that visitors often pass through without fully noticing.
