La Follie Castle, Medieval castle in Écaussinnes, Belgium

The castle structure displays four circular towers connected by three-meter-thick walls, forming a quadrilateral shape above vast vaulted cellars.

Archaeological excavations in 1928 revealed ancient moats dating from the 14th century, when Englebert d'Enghien resided in the fortress.

The castle chapel, consecrated in 1528, features an octagonal layout with Gothic windows, ribbed vaults, and Renaissance-style decorated consoles.

The de Lichtervelde family maintains the castle as a private residence, permitting group visits between 20 and 40 people upon request.

The underground chambers contain remnants of the original corner towers and a fireplace, indicating these spaces served as living quarters in the 14th century.
