Provinciaal Museum Stijn Streuvels Het Lijsternest

Provinciaal Museum Stijn Streuvels Het Lijsternest is a house from the early 1900s with rooms that retain their original arrangement and furnishings from when the writer lived there. The building contains a spacious living room with attached veranda, a working kitchen, bedrooms, and a study overlooking the gardens.

The villa was built in 1904 by architect Jozef Viérin following Flemish architectural traditions of that era. Stijn Streuvels moved in during 1905 and remained there throughout his life, though the structure suffered damage during both world wars.

The house preserves the living space of Flemish writer Stijn Streuvels, whose study contains his complete library and personal collection of books. Visitors can observe how he organized his work and intellectual life within these rooms.
