Queen Astrid Park, Public park in central Charleroi, Belgium
The park spreads across 2.10 hectares with winding paths, green spaces, gardens, and numerous old trees including Ginkgo biloba and purple beech specimens.
Established in 1882 on former fortification grounds, the park received its current name in 1935 to commemorate Queen Astrid of Belgium after her death.
Several monuments decorate the grounds, including a music kiosk, military memorials, and a commemorative plaque for Rwandan genocide victims installed in 2017.
The park connects the northern and southern parts of Charleroi, with direct access from Parc metro station and multiple entrances along Boulevard Audent.
During its inauguration ceremony in 1882, the park became the first location in Charleroi to demonstrate electric street lighting.
