Saint Peter's Church in Xhignesse

Saint Peter's Church in Xhignesse is a Romanesque structure from the 11th and 12th centuries in Hamoir that rises on a slight elevation amid a cemetery. Its interior displays sandstone and limestone walls with decorative arcades and niches in the chancel area, while the surrounding graveyard contains numerous tombs from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The current structure was built between the 11th and 12th centuries, replacing an earlier monastic building from the 8th century that occupied the same spot. This transition reflects the shift from early medieval to later medieval architecture and religious practice in the region.
