Solarium d'Evere, Former outdoor swimming complex in Evere, Belgium.
Solarium d'Evere was a former outdoor swimming complex featuring an Olympic-sized heated pool with diving boards reaching 10 meters high and large grass areas for visitors. The facility included a cafeteria, terraces, and tables for recreational games.
The complex opened in 1934 and became a popular local destination for decades. It closed in 1978 after a new indoor pool called Les Tritons was constructed.
The place served as a social hub where neighbors gathered for leisure and children learned to swim in a communal setting. Families used the grounds for outings while the site hosted various community activities throughout the year.
The former site was located at 121 Rue de Genève and was accessible via public tram during its operating years. Today the area has changed, and visitors interested in swimming should use modern facilities instead.
The facility featured filtered and heated water in its pool, which was noteworthy for that era and allowed comfortable swimming on cooler days. This technical feature set it apart from simpler outdoor pools of the time.
