KOPERGIETERY, Arts centre and theatre in Ghent, Belgium

Kopergietery occupies a former copper foundry building in central Ghent, the Rosseau foundry, with a grey-brown brick facade. Three arched ground-level openings, two windows flanking a dark double door, sit below a long white sign panel reading "KOPERGIETERY" in black capitals, with a drawn machine part on each side and a small "1924" above the text. Higher up is a tall arched window framed by a pale arch, flanked by two dark metal wall anchors.

The organization began in 1978 as Speelteater Gent under Eva Bal's direction. It was still called Speelteater/Kopergietery until 2001, when it took the name Kopergietery. Since 1993 it has occupied a former factory building of the Kopergieterij Rosseau in Ghent's city centre.

The center creates productions where professional performers work alongside children from its drama workshops, developing stories rooted in personal experiences. This mix of professional theatre and community participation shapes the institution's approach.
