Technopolis

Technopolis is a science center in Mechelen featuring more than 350 interactive stations for hands-on experimentation with scientific concepts. The exhibitions combine physical demonstrations with digital interfaces to support practical learning.

The center was established in 2000 and has since contributed to science education in the region. Its work in this field received recognition in 2006 with a prize from the Flemish Minister for Scientific Policy.

The name reflects the fusion of science and technology, and it serves as a meeting place where visitors engage with contemporary research topics and discoveries. People come here to understand how these fields shape their daily lives.

Visitors should allow time to try out the various stations themselves, as learning through hands-on activity is central to the experience. Most activities are accessible to different age groups, making it suitable for families to explore together.

Visitors can experience activities rarely possible in everyday life, such as landing an airplane in a flight simulator or cycling on a cable suspended five meters above the ground. These unusual activities create memorable impressions for those who try them.
