Kasteel Printhagen

Kasteel Printhagen is a Renaissance castle complex in Kortessem with a rectangular layout, five bays, and three stories beneath a steep tent roof covered in slate with dormer windows. The structure displays classical Renaissance principles in its overall composition.

The property first appears in records from the 1200s as the seat of the van Houte and van Printhagen families. It evolved over centuries into an established noble residence in the region.

The interior displays stucco decorations and marble fireplaces that reflect Liege rococo design from the late 1700s. These rooms show the craftsmanship and taste that shaped the home during that period.

The castle sits within a landscape park extending to the southwest, marked by stone pillars and an iron gate at the entrance. Allow time to explore both the building and its surrounding grounds.

The roof underwent major renovation work in 1989, with architects from Tongeren overseeing the restoration to preserve the structure's integrity. This significant maintenance work ensured the building's survival for future visitors.
