Stadspark

Stadspark is a public park in Antwerp covering a large triangular area with winding paths, a central pond, and mature trees throughout. Multiple entrances connect to surrounding streets like Quinten Matsijslei and Van Eycklei, making the space easy to enter from different directions.

This space was created in the 1860s on the grounds of former military fortifications and transformed into a green area through careful planning. The landscape architect Édouard Keilig designed the conversion that shaped the park into its current form.

Several artworks are placed along the pathways, including the notable sculpture 'Amerika' that many visitors stop to see. The space regularly hosts seasonal events and activities that draw people seeking cultural experiences outdoors.

The central pond relies on artificial pumps to maintain water levels because nearby tunnel construction affected the groundwater flow underneath. This hidden technical system keeps a seemingly natural water feature functioning properly.
