Castle of Blondel of Beauregard

The Castle of Blondel of Beauregard is an estate featuring a distinctive square gatehouse with a monumental entrance as its focal point. The grounds contain several structures including former horse stables now used as a restaurant, plus an orangery and additional service buildings arranged around the property.

The castle was built in 1762 and eventually came under the ownership of the Blondel de Beauregard family. They maintained residence here continuously until 1919, marking the end of their time at the estate.

The orangery built in the 19th century serves as a gathering space where the local community holds events and celebrations. This adaptation shows how the estate remains woven into the life of the area.

The grounds are easy to walk through and visitors can access the outdoor areas freely. The restaurant housed in the former stables provides a convenient spot to rest during your visit.

During World War II, specifically between 1944 and 1945, the castle sheltered Dutch refugees fleeing the village of Opheusden. This act of refuge during wartime remains a meaningful part of what the place represents today.
