Reux Castle

Reux is a stone castle in Belgium featuring high walls, ornate details, and a surrounding Victorian-style park spanning multiple hectares. The estate combines traditional castle elements with the landscape design of a wealthy private residence.

Engineer Jules Goffinet acquired a large estate in 1909 and began building the castle. The project was taken over by architect Octave Flanneau after the death of the first architect and completed in the early 1900s.

The castle shows features of early 20th-century Belgian architecture with English design influences. The gardens and buildings reflect the taste of a wealthy era.

The castle sits on a large grounds with paths through the gardens for exploring. Visitors should allow time for walking and can enjoy the architectural and natural features of the estate at their own pace.

The building leadership changed during construction, which was unusual for a private castle of that time. This shift was due to unexpected events and shaped how the estate was realized.
