Maison personnelle du peintre Labarre, Protected Art Deco house in Uccle, Brussels, Belgium

The Maison personnelle du peintre Labarre is an Art Deco house on Rue Ernest Gossart in Uccle, a neighborhood of Brussels. The facade features straight geometric lines, symmetrical windows, and a small oval window above the entrance door.

The house was built in 1936 by Louis Tenaerts, during the period when Art Deco was at its height in Brussels. It was officially recognized as a protected heritage building in 1998.

The house was designed by architect Louis Tenaerts for painter Raoul Labarre, who both lived and worked here. From the street, small decorative details around the entrance and windows, such as geometric reliefs, are still visible today.

The house sits on Rue Ernest Gossart and is easy to reach on foot, as the Uccle area is well served by public transit. Since it is a residential building, it can be seen from the street without needing to go inside.

The small oval window above the front door, known as an œil-de-bœuf, is an original feature that survived without alteration. This type of opening was used in that era to bring light into the entrance hall while adding a decorative touch to the street-facing wall.
