L'Archiduc, Art Deco jazz club in Dansaert, Belgium
L'Archiduc is an Art Deco jazz club on Rue Antoine Dansaert in Brussels. It features a 1929 grand piano, a cast iron entrance door marked with an A, and wooden benches along the walls that preserve its original character.
The venue opened in 1937 and initially served stockbrokers and office workers. In 1953, Stan Brenders transformed it into a dedicated jazz space that grew into a center for live performances.
The name references an archduke and reflects Belle Époque elegance, connecting the space to European nobility. Today visitors experience it as a gathering place where live jazz and the original interior with dark wooden benches create an atmosphere tied to mid-20th century artistic traditions.
The club opens daily in the afternoon and stays open until early morning hours, suitable for evening visitors. Its location near Brussels' stock exchange district makes it easy to reach and serves as a good starting point for exploring the surrounding neighborhood.
Two prominent pillars shape the room's layout and give the interior a distinctive form. These elements are part of the original structure and create a special quality that many visitors overlook.
