Sint-Hermeskerk, Ronse, Gothic basilica in Ronse, Belgium
The Sint-Hermeskerk features a 79-meter tower with a carillon of 49 bells and contains a Romanesque crypt dating from 1089 beneath the main structure.
The church received the status of Minor Basilica in 2019, marking its significance as a repository for Saint Hermes relics since the year 860.
The annual Fiertelommegang procession, initiated in 1090, carries the relics of Saint Hermes along a 32.5-kilometer route around the city borders.
The basilica welcomes visitors daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with access to both the main church hall and the historical underground crypt.
The crypt contains a wooden beam with iron hooks where people seeking mental health treatment through Saint Hermes intercession were restrained overnight.
