Oud Gerechtsgebouw, Protected courthouse in Hasselt, Belgium.
The former courthouse occupies a prominent corner position at Havermarkt and Cellebroedersstraat, featuring decorative sculptures by Jan Boedts on its stone facade.
Originally housing a Cellebroeders monastery in the 15th century, the building transformed into a prison and court after 1790, until German forces burned it in 1918.
The architectural heritage designation of 2008 recognizes the building's contribution to Belgian judicial architecture and its role in Hasselt's urban development.
Following its closure as a courthouse in 2012, the building now serves students as a study space after extensive renovations completed in 2018.
Local youth artists created three-dimensional murals on the building's wall in 2019, adding contemporary artistic elements to its historical architecture.
