Robotland

Robotland is a technology museum in a converted customs warehouse near Essen train station, housing working machines and interactive displays about robotics and transport technology. The building sits within an industrial setting, and inside you find exhibits ranging from transportation history to modern robotic systems that visitors can physically interact with.

The building dates back to the Flemish Neo-Renaissance period with its red brick and sandstone facade, originally serving to inspect goods trains crossing between Belgium and the Netherlands. It was later restored and transformed into a space dedicated to technology and machinery.

The museum shows how robots and transport machines shape daily life and work, with displays explaining real industrial practices and their role in society. Visitors discover that such technology changes not just factories but also how people live and interact with their surroundings.

The museum is easy to reach, located just beside the train station with ample parking available on-site. Plan to spend at least 2 to 3 hours to explore the different sections and enjoy the interactive stations.
