The Church of St Demetrius is a medieval Orthodox church building located near Boboshevo. It has a single nave with interior dimensions of roughly 4 by 3 meters and a height of about 5 and a half meters, and a narthex was added in 1864.
The building was constructed after 1481, and frescoes were added in 1488. It belonged to a monastery that had been established as early as the 10th century.
The interior walls display traditional frescoes showing Christ, prophets, warrior saints, and biblical scenes painted in dark, saturated colors. These paintings shape how the space feels today and reflect the artistic choices of those who decorated it.
The church sits about 4 kilometers from Boboshevo and is easily reachable on foot. The entrance is located on the northern side of the building.
The original icons from 1729 are now stored in the crypt of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia. This move was made to better protect and preserve these valuable works.
