Hotnishki waterfall

Hotnishki waterfall is a natural monument near Veliko Tarnovo where water drops roughly 30 meters into an emerald-colored pool. The water splits into two separate streams as it cascades down the large rock formation.

The waterfall and its gorge were designated as a protected natural landmark in 1971. This protected status helped preserve the landscape from damage.

Local residents and visitors regularly gather at the waterfall site to celebrate traditional Bulgarian customs and participate in regional festivities.

Access is via a short path from the parking area and remains open throughout the year. Wear sturdy shoes since the ground can become slippery after rain.

The water flows consistently even when summer heat dries out other waterfalls in the region. A walking route continues through the gorge and reveals smaller cascades and diverse forest types along the way.
