Mazyr Castle

Mazyr Castle is a wooden fortress on elevated ground in the city center, with defensive walls, towers, and interior chambers showing traditional construction methods. The structure combines authentic medieval building techniques with local wood materials and was created as a modern reconstruction.

The original structure was built in the 15th century and resisted multiple attacks from Tatar forces before being destroyed in 1649. The current building was reconstructed in the early 21st century using historical construction guidelines.

The site reflects Mazyr's role as a trading hub where residents shaped their surroundings across the centuries. Exhibits allow visitors to understand the daily life and craftsmanship techniques of earlier periods.

The site is easily walkable and centrally located, making orientation straightforward. Visitors should expect uneven paths and stairs, especially when exploring the towers and walls.

The structure was intentionally built in 2005 to mark the city's 850th anniversary and uses wood species typical of the region. This deliberate reconstruction allows visitors to experience an authentic medieval building up close.
