Ahinski Manor in Zaliessie, Neoclassical palace complex in Zaliessie, Belarus.
Ahinski Manor in Zaliessie is a neoclassical palace complex near Minsk, Belarus, built around a two-story white main building with symmetrical wings and a columned entrance portico. The complex sits within a landscaped park featuring old trees, ponds, and winding paths that frame the residence on all sides.
The estate was built in 1822 to a design by architect Mykolas Angelas Šulcas for Michał Kleofas Ogiński, who had returned to Belarus after years in exile. Ogiński spent the final years of his life here before leaving permanently in 1828 and dying in Italy in 1833.
The manor takes its name from the Ogiński family, whose presence shaped the cultural life of the surrounding area for generations. Inside, the rooms are arranged as a museum where visitors can see personal objects and instruments that belonged to the composer.
The complex is located about 19 miles (30 km) from Minsk and is easiest to reach by car, with parking available nearby. A visit works well in any season, though the park is especially worth exploring in spring and autumn when the trees are at their most colorful.
Ogiński composed his well-known Polonaise in A minor here, a piece he called "Farewell to the Homeland" and considered a personal testament rather than a concert work. He reportedly stated that he never intended it for public performance, as he felt it was too tied to his own story to be shared on stage.
