Allee der schmiedeeisernen Laternen, Street sculpture exhibition in Brest, Belarus.

The Allee der schmiedeeisernen Laternen is a sculpture exhibition displaying 41 metal artworks along Gogol Street in Brest. Each lantern was individually forged as a standalone artwork, with forms representing different characters and everyday objects through their shapes.

The exhibition opened on July 27, 2013, commemorating the liberation of Brest from German occupation during World War II. This memorial installation links public artmaking with a significant moment in the city's past.

The lanterns depict crafted figures representing occupations such as firefighters, merchants, and cobblers that reflect the city's working life. Visitors can see in these forged works the stories of people whose labor shaped the community.

The best way to experience the installation is to walk along Gogol Street, where all works are arranged in a row. The view becomes more dramatic after dark when the kerosene lamps in the central pedestrian zone are lit.

The lanterns contain engraved five-pointed stars with the names of sponsors who made the project possible. These hidden details turn each piece into a monument for those who supported the installation.
