Scenic Falls, waterfall
Scenic Falls is a waterfall in Hamilton, Ontario, forming part of a series of falls along the Chedoke Radial Trail. The site sits beside a steep cliff, and the water flow becomes more visible after rain, though trees often block the upper view from the gorge edge.
The waterfall formed through natural erosion as a creek carved the gorge over time. Parts of the creek flow may have been redirected in recent history, with water now traveling through culverts and human-made channels before appearing as a cascade.
The name reflects what visitors come to experience here: the visual appeal of water flowing over rocks. Local walkers and photographers value this spot for the sound of rushing water and the wooded setting that surrounds it.
Access the site from several entry points near Scenic Drive, the Chedoke Golf Course, or the end of Durndun Street. The water flow is strongest and most visible just after rainfall, though dense trees along the trail often block views from above the gorge.
This site is less crowded than other nearby falls and is often called a hidden spot by those who discover it. Early morning and late afternoon light creates particularly striking photography opportunities, when shadows grow long and water sounds fill the air more distinctly.
