Richmond Hill, City in York Region, Canada
Richmond Hill is a city in the Regional Municipality of York north of Toronto in Canada. Residential neighborhoods alternate with parks and natural areas spread across the entire municipal territory.
The settlement grew from a small village established in 1873 into a larger municipality. It received city status in 2019 after expanding steadily for more than a century.
The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts presents theater productions, concerts and other events shaped by the city's diverse population. Audiences experience programs from different traditions and artistic forms that reflect the everyday life of the community.
Highways 404 and 407 connect the city to Toronto and surrounding municipalities. GO Transit offers regular train and bus services for trips across the region.
The David Dunlap Observatory houses Canada's largest optical telescope dating from 1935. Visitors can attend public observation evenings there and learn about the research carried out at the site.
