The steel bridge spans the Saint Lawrence River with a total length of 4.43 kilometers and towers reaching 65.88 meters in height.

Engineer Philip Louis Pratley designed this infrastructure project, which opened on July 6, 1935 during the Great Depression to create employment opportunities.

The bridge replaced traditional ferry services and winter ice crossings, transforming daily life for residents of Île d'Orléans and mainland Quebec.

Quebec Route 368 runs across the bridge, connecting to Autoroute 40 on the northern side and providing vehicle access between Beauport and Saint-Pierre-de-l'Île-d'Orléans.

This structure stands as the farthest downstream fixed crossing over the Saint Lawrence River, featuring a main span of 323 meters.
